Finder: Identity, Vision and Products

Finder has always been synonymous with quality and innovation. Who is Finder today and what is your vision in the market?

Finder is now a global company with its production and strategic heart firmly rooted in Italy. With more than 14,000 products in its catalog for civil and industrial applications, the company offers a wide range of electronic and electromechanical components dedicated to comfort management, energy, and automation.

In the residential and tertiary sectors, our vision is clear: to make technological innovation accessible, sustainable, and practical. Finder does not simply manufacture components; we develop solutions that improve quality of life in living spaces and efficiency in professional environments, staying true to our claim: “Finder, Relaying innovation”.

What are the main product families in your portfolio?

Our offering is built around two main pillars:

  • Civil electrical systems
  • Industrial automation

We address needs related to:

  • Precision, with timers and relays
  • Energy efficiency, with energy meters and motion detectors
  • Comfort, with thermostats and smart home systems

Our goal is twofold: to provide installers with reliable products and to offer designers versatile and high-performance solutions.

What characterizes your domestic product range?

Our smart home range, led by the YESLY system and the 4box Series S, is based on the concept of invisible technology.

These devices are easy to install and can transform a traditional electrical system into a smart home without invasive interventions. At the same time, particular attention is paid to aesthetics, ensuring that technology integrates seamlessly into any interior design.

The Path Toward BIM

When did you start focusing on BIM and what motivated this step?

Our BIM journey began several years ago when the shift in the construction industry became clear. The international market increasingly demanded “digital twins” of physical components.

For Finder, product digitalization was a natural step to stay aligned with new design methodologies.

What role does BIM play in your strategy today?

BIM acts as a bridge between manufacturing and installation. It is a transparency tool: a BIM object is not just a 3D geometry but a container of certified technical data that simplifies design, quantity take-offs, and facility management.

How does BIM improve upon traditional tools?

Unlike a 2D CAD drawing or a technical PDF, a BIM model is a “smart” object.

When a Finder relay or a 4box control device is inserted into a BIM project, the software can automatically update:

  • Quantity take-offs
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Technical specifications
  • Maintenance information

Data becomes dynamic and fully integrated within the project.

The Choice of BIM&CO

Why did you choose BIM&CO?

Finder was not looking for a simple file repository, but for a technology partner. BIM&CO was selected for:

  • Its collaborative approach
  • High data quality standards
  • Guaranteed interoperability
  • Visibility within an international community of professionals

Why make Finder and 4box products available on BIM&CO?

The residential and tertiary sectors are becoming increasingly complex and multidisciplinary. Being present on BIM&CO allows designers and system integrators to incorporate Finder solutions from the earliest stages of a project.

How important is it to offer multi-format models aligned with different project phases?

A project may start in Revit and continue in other software environments. Ensuring:

  • Multi-format availability
  • Data consistency
  • LOD (Level of Development) control

means guaranteeing that a Finder or 4box product remains part of the project from the initial idea through to Facility Management.

Project Challenges

What was the main challenge?

Synthesis.

Translating the technical complexity of an electronic device into a lightweight yet information-rich digital model was the primary challenge.

Which aspects required the most attention?

Parameter standardization. We had to map product properties according to international standards to ensure:

  • Interoperability
  • Consistency
  • Cross-market usability

How important was BIM&CO’s support?

The BIM&CO team played a key role in structuring BIM properties and refining technical data, transforming the library into a logical and functional working tool rather than just a digital catalog.

Value for the BIM&CO Community

What value do Finder BIM models offer designers today?

Reliability.

When a designer downloads a Finder or 4box model, they know the parameters are official and verified, reducing the risk of sizing errors or compatibility issues.

How do structured data support product selection?

BIM enables system simulation before materials are purchased. Structured data allow professionals to compare performance and select the most efficient Finder or 4box solution in terms of cost and energy efficiency.

Present and Future on BIM&CO

What potential do you see in the platform?

BIM&CO is a dynamic showcase and an advanced technical marketing tool, capable of amplifying product visibility across multiple markets.

How strategic is usage data analysis?

Monitoring downloads, markets, and user types helps us:

  • Guide new product development
  • Strengthen technical support
  • Identify high-potential markets

Looking Ahead

How do you envision the evolution of Finder’s BIM offering?

We foresee increasingly intelligent, data-rich models fully integrated into digital building processes. The evolution of digital content will go hand in hand with the evolution of the physical product.

What role will digital content play in the relationship between industry and designers?

Digital content will become the true business card of the product. The relationship between industry and designers will increasingly rely on reliable data exchange and digital technical consultancy.

A message to companies considering a BIM journey?

Do not see it as a cost, but as a relational and strategic investment.

BIM is the universal language of the future of construction. Speaking this language is essential to remain relevant in an increasingly connected global market.
